A coated abrasive is an abrasive grain bonded to a flexible backing using adhesives. Common backings are paper, cloth, neoprene, fiberglass and plastic films. Available in grit sizes ranging from very coarse 24 grit to ultrafine 600 grit. The international standard for coated abrasives is ISO 6344.
